A City Made By People is committed to respecting and safeguarding your privacy and ensuring that you continue to trust A City Made By People with your personal data. 2. What information do we collect and for what purposes?
When you visit A City Made By People Websites, our web server automatically records details about your visit: for example, your IP address, the website from which you visit us, the type of browser software used A City Made By People Website pages that you actually visit including the date and the duration of your visit. A City Made By People is an international network made up of of cities and citizens that celebrate and support citizens who make their cities more liveable. Made By People Lab is how we create awareness around urban issues and use different creative disciplines to explore and improve liveability in cities. The Websites may contain features including article, blog and newsletter services, event, print journals and community pages, member areas and other applications that may be available from time to time.
The public websites use third party cookies for analytics (Google Analytics, Mailchimp and Eventbrite) and to track common metrics such as platform engagement, concurrent users, maximum number of users, time spent on a page, etc. Any use of such analytics cookies is to improve your user experience and provide A City Made by People with valuable information to help A City Made By People to better tailor our services to our partners, members, constituents and participants.

What personal information do we store?
Once you sign up for our community, we automatically sign you up for our weekly update which is sent via Mailchimp. On Saturday’s you get the interesting and inspirational contributions to the online community in your mailbox. Of course you can unsubscribe for the update immediately. Only your first name, last name and email address are sent to Mailchimp.
We store this information for as long as you are a community member. We check email addresses once or twice a year and update our database. If you unsubscribe for newsletters, Mailchimp will delete your data. If you ask us to remove your data from the community website, the data sent to Mailchimp will be deleted too.

What personal information do we store?
A City Made By People organises its own events via the A City Made By People Account. Events (co-)organised by A City Made By People, are shared via the A City Made By People account. Registrations for these events are done via Eventbrite. Our events are either free or has a fee, therefore, the information collected is: your name, email address, and bank information to purchase a ticket. Your contact information is used solely for event purposes, this includes sending you an email about upcoming events.
3. Children’s personal data
A City Made By People does not knowingly solicit or collect personal data from children below the age of 18. If A City Made By People discovers that it has accidentally collected personal data from a child below the age of 18, it will remove that child’s personal data from its records as soon as reasonably possible. However, A City Made By People may collect personal data about children below the age of 18 years if authorised by the holder of parental responsibility over the child.
4. How do we share personal data?
We do not share your personal data with any third party that intends to use it for direct marketing purposes, unless you have provided specific consent in relation to this.
A City Made By People may share your personal data with third parties for other purposes, but only in the following circumstances:
I. With your consent
We will share personal data with third parties outside of A City Made By People when we have your consent to do so. We require explicit opt-in consent for the sharing of any sensitive personal information.
II. For legitimate interests
We will share personal data based on legitimate interests as, for example, when you register for one of our events, except where such interests are overridden by your interests or fundamental rights, in which case we will request your explicit consent.

We provide your personal data to A City Made By People locations in other regions for legitimate business purposes, on a “need-to-know” basis, based on our instructions and in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

We use two types of cookies on A City Made By People Websites: persistent cookies and session cookies. A City Made By People does not know the identity of a person based on the ID. 6. How do we store or transfer your data?
A City Made By People is an international network, present in 20+ cities, such as Amsterdam, Madrid, Vancouver, Chicago and more. The hosting facilities for our websites and A City Made By People Custom Platforms are situated in the Netherlands and the EU.
When transferring personal data internationally, we make sure that we comply with applicable laws and regulations, for example, by entering into agreements that will ensure that the recipients of your information maintain an adequate level of data protection.
Information collected within the European Economic Area (“EEA”) may, for example, be transferred to countries outside of the EEA for the purposes as described in this Policy. We utilize standard contract clauses approved by the European Commission, adopt other means under Swiss and European Union law and/or obtain your consent to legitimise data transfers from the EEA to the United States and other countries.
7. Security of personal data
A City Made By People is committed to protecting the security of your personal data. Any information provided to A City Made By People by you is handled with due care and security, and will not be used in ways other than as set forth in this Privacy Policy, or in any site/area-specific policies, or in ways to which users have not explicitly consented. A City Made By People employs a range of technologies and security measures to protect the information maintained on A City Made by People systems from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure, alteration or destruction.
However, since the internet is not a 100% secure environment, A City Made By People cannot ensure nor guarantee the security of any information that the user may transmit to A City Made By People Websites.
